Notes From Around the Arena
June 17th - 23rd, 2014
How I See It
It was down to the nity gritty at the D'Alonzo Final show for the winter show series. With the start of summer, graduation celebrations, Dance recitals, and Fathers Day all vying for priority. Sally and Linus, Tara and Zen, Jan and Comet and myself were the skeleton crew representing Gypsy Station for the, as of this time, unverified win.
The western show day was average attendance, with 4 to 6 riders in each class. Sally and Linus really caught the judges eye. Taking high point for the day. Tara and Zen showed nicely and the judge made it known she really liked Zen, as she told Tara again and again. Comet mingled at the in gate in appropriate gear for the occasion and I hopped on him and rode him about.
At the end of the day after a short rest Tara tacked up Zen and rode English while Jan rode Comet about in the arena.
Once we all saw how nice Tara and Zen looked together in their English gear the pressure was on to get Tara to show the next day.
And she did. Tara and Zen placed 2nd in Dressage Suitability after the judge made them drop their stirrups, ride on the buckle, extend the walk, sit the trot and maybe even a few more movements I may have missed. I was just so excited to see Tara flow through each new request with confidence and balance.
Sally kept it light for Linus on this day, after his grand western triumph the day before. Testing out new concepts for the judges consideration, with great feedback from the judge. Some hand positions the judge favored and some she critiqued sternly. So nice to get such straight forward input, helping to better shape ones personal arsenal. With blue ribbons in pleasure classes and making the line up every time we have our fingers crossed for the results for the series hi point.
Congratulations!
