Notes From Around the Arena
June 24th - 30th 2014
How I See It
The MOB at Gypsy Station made made their presence known at this years Geek Show.
The Geek Show has one of my favorite gymkhana prize lists.
The Team:
Our riders for the Geek Show were Sally and Linus in the A Division, Katrina and Tikkun, Tara and Zen, Judy and Frenchie in the FC Division, Jamila and Macaroni lead by Katrina in the Lead Line Division.
Ruby came as my helper and took care of Payton the entire weekend.
Deryn worked the computer, organizing riders times into spreadsheets so I can track consistency and achievements. Helping me determine where and when to chase points. And when to appropriately set up for potential division jumps.
Surprise support drop in's came from Paul Kimsey on Saturday, who flew in to Sacramento and dropped in to cheer for Sally and join us for dinner even though he was on a time zone that was antibody's guess.
Jan Switzer appeared in the mix on Sunday to Tara's delight and was there to cheer for Tara and the team at the awards ceremony.
Ruby and Jamila were busy little worker bees, helping with the horses and also working the arenas, assisting judges, setting obstacles and learning the other side of the events.
After all the rides were tallied the award presentation began. Big thank yous went out to the 80+ riders that made for fun competition. Ground crews and equipment operators, computer time keepers where graciously thanked. Helpers were awarded free class coupons. Which Ruby and Jamila each received.
Jackpot money winners were given their checks and Sally Kimsey was our groups winner, doubling her money.
And then after all that what we came for:
Our pink sheets came out telling how our time stacked up and to our excitement.
Judy and Frenchie made jumps into the A Division in three events:
Figure 8 Flag she was 2 seconds into the next bracket.
Keyhole 1second in.
And for Poles 1 with a beautiful run 1 second into the next division.
Way to go Judy!
Sally and Linus not only jumped into the next division in a few classes but came within reach of the top times in the next division. Bitter sweet as the points she did not earn for those events pulled her out of the High point for the computer. Sally and Linus where strong in the points and kept the A Division 3rd place spot winning the Blue tooth speaker. Congratulations.
Katrina also bumped up but just by a hair keeping her on the list winning the FC Division 3rd place award of the blue tooth speaker.
Tara kept her rides in the zone and sailed in to the
FC Reserve Champion winner of the 9" Samsung Tablet.
Congratulations!
