How I See It
We made the dental appointment with Dr. Martin and Comet and Mercury were very brave little guys. Their teeth are in great shape, a few sharp points to file away and that was it. Baby's teeth were in great shape as well. Also just a sharp point or two along the molars. Dr. Martin was very pleased that his teeth are doing so well, as a youngster he had a wave from loosing baby teeth. But by keeping up on taking care of his teeth its all gone. I am working with Dr. Martin to get to the bottom of the lowered level immunity. All the horses are on herbal preparations for each of their types. Along with a few special immune boosters. Once I can pin point the stressor that is affecting them, i will be better able to make the correct choices for our herd. Until then they will need to be grained daily.
I should probably take a moment to explain that I do not believe that horses should eat grains. They were designed to eat grasses. Grains are very good supplement. I use the term grain like some use the word Kleenex. Really what they are referring to is a tissue. And so i call grass hay pellets and alfalfa pellets grain. I guess because you have to use a bucket. However there are no grains in what we feed our horses. We are going back to using the Dynamite brand vitamins and mineral supplements. We tried some other stuff for the last 6 months.
