Notes From Around the Arena
Sept 17th - 23rd, 2012
We did make it to the Gymkhana in Vacaville after all.
Tara and Zen, Sally and Linus, Clair and Rock It Rockstar, Jan and myself.
We had an amazing time.
We kept the horses overnight at Ranchotel Horse Center and had a sleepover at Tara's.
Being the Murillo Classic about 35 of the 55 riders showed up to Murillo's Mexican Restaurant for a fun filled and great food no host dinner.
We were visited by Deryn Fredette and also by Teresa Kruse.
Saturday the horses were a little excited, it seemed they remembered Gymkhana is about getting the fastest time. After the first few events the riders made it very clear that speed is best achieved by accuracy. And overrunning and knocking down obstacles takes up more time.
By Sunday the horses had settled in and the riders were back to working on technique and timing. Even winning a few of the classes.
I was super pleased to see that after 6 weeks off it took only a few events to pick right up where we left off at the state championships.
Really nice to see such great riding and great horsemanship.
I really apreaciate you all.
